Curious?? The Tentec Hydraulic Nut replaces the existing hexagon or round nut, and by applying hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic chamber of the unit, a direct axial load can be induced into the press column or stud. Whilst holding the pressure constant, the load retention collar is screwed up against the nut body, and the pressure released. The column load is then retained by the hydraulic nut.

Since there is no rotation of the Tentec nut in order to induce the column load, all frictional factors associated with conventional tightening are eliminated, which ensures an accurate load can then be applied. It is particularly important with press columns that the induced preload is higher than the external working load in order to minimise the fluctuating load that the column is subjected to. This helps to reduce the likelihood of column failure to fatigue.
